A Letter From Miles
3/1/2008

Greetings to our entire Camp Footprints Family,

I hope this letter finds you all well, happy and healthy. It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you all that we will not be having Camp Footprints for the first time since the summer of 1993.

As you all may know, Camp Footprints was started by a very young group of college students in the fall of 1992. From the beginning, it has been a labor of love and based on the premise that young people could serve unconditionally and make a difference in this world.

Over the last 15 summers, we have been proud to have gotten to know hundreds of families and children. It has been a blessing for all those whom have been involved and has continued to show me the beauty of people in what is sometimes a challenging world.

Everyone involved with Camp is a volunteer. We have no paid employees. This truly is unique for a non-profit organization which has been around as long as us. Over these years, some of us have started our careers, some have gotten married and some have had children. It is in this new reality that many of us have decided to take pause to rethink our mission which is Camp Footprints.

I am very hopeful that this is not the end, but a new beginning. In the next few months, we will be making decisions on the directions in which we will continue to walk and we will be sending out communications with all of you once we have made our decisions.

I understand this is not news that will not bring joy to everyone and we do apologize for the disappointment that it brings. But I am hopeful that memories of camps past will bring enough smiles to hold us all until we see each other again. It certainly will for all of us.

Thank you again for giving to all of us more than we could have dreamed. I am hopeful that we will talk again soon. Continue to live a life uncommon.

With love and kindness,

Miles Masatsugu
